Contract for Graduate or Student Placement available from Spring 2023

Seedtech is offering a graduate or student an opportunity to gain experience working on a large-scale research farm this spring. 

This contract is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the agronomy of the main arable crops grown in Ireland as well as experience in crop research. This is a paid placement for the successful candidate.

 

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the following areas:

  • Crop agronomy and integrated pest management of wheat, barley, oats, oilseed rape, pulses

  • Arable crop experimental techniques including trial design, layout and field operations

  • Disease identification and scoring of the above crops

  • Experience in research trials in grass with our partners DLF and wildflower production with our partners Connecting to Nature

  • Experience working with handheld devices for recording scores in the field and producing reports on varieties

  • Experience in modern practices in trial harvesting and assessments

  • Involved in open day preparations and the opportunity to meet trade members at our open day events

 

Requirements

  • Interest in a career in crops or research

  • B license to drive cars and machinery

 

The successful candidate will be based 50:50 between our offices and lab in Ballymountain, Co. Waterford X91 V6YR and our trial site which is located in Faithlegg Co. Waterford. Hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The student will be required to do extra hours during the harvest where required.

Contract runs from March 1st to September 1st. This may be flexible to suit the right candidates’ requirements.
