SHAPING THE FUTURE OF SEED

About Us

Seed Technology Ltd. (Seedtech) is the leading developer and producer of arable seed varieties for Irish tillage farmers.

At the very heart of the company is a passion for taking a researched based approach to growing and processing technical seed to expand and develop the tillage sector.

We operate one of the largest independent trialling systems in Ireland conducting applied research trials with international plant breeders material to select varieties specially suited to Irish growing conditions.

Seedtech has developed one of the most modern and advanced seed processing facilities in Europe at our site in Belview, Waterford, Ireland which allows us to develop additional export market opportunities.

We are constantly looking for new markets and diversification which builds on our unique area of expertise to support a progressive and sustainable Irish Agri-Sector.

Seed Technology’s activities can be broadly categorised into four areas:

  1. Sale of Basic Seed to seed multipliers and wholesale of commercial C1 Seed

  2. Seed Trials & Research

  3. Seed Production & Processing

  4. Management of Intellectual Property

Seed Production & Processing.

Seedtech produce a wide range of seeds in Ireland for different customers and uses.

We are the leading producer of commercial grade (C1) cereal seed in Ireland and the only producer of F1 Hybrid Winter Barley seed.

Over the past number of years we have expanded the Oilseed Rape production division of the business, and now produce significant quantities of F1 hybrid and mother-line hybrid OSR seed for overseas customers in our dedicated OSR seed processing plant.

Management of intellectual property.

Seedtech represents a wide variety of plant breeders on the Irish market. It is our task to advise and support the breeder in all aspects of the Irish seed market.

We also ensure that the breeder is properly remunerated for any material used in Ireland under the laws of plant breeder’s rights; as Seedtech is one of two members of the Plant Variety Development Office (PDVO), which is the body responsible for the management of plant intellectual property in Ireland.
