The most reliable winter wheat to drill in 2023

Agronomy Characteristics

  • Suitable for early* drilling

  • Reliable disease resistance for Septoria, rust and mildew

  • Low take-all build-up – reduces the risk of infection in the following crop

  • Bright, clean head delivering well-filled grains

  • Stiff to stand & early to ripen

  • Drill 300-350 seeds/m2 up to mid-October to maximise tiller capacity

  • Grows rapidly after growth stage 30 to help yield forming leaves move away from Septoria

  • Early to harvest helps spread the workload

    * Consult an IASIS agronomist regarding early drilling of Graham

You can rely on Graham for consistently high yields, excellent disease resistance and early harvest date
— Dr. Tim O'Donovan - Technical Director

Getting the most from Graham

  • Early sow (before Oct) needs to have a disease rating for Septoria of 5 or greater

  • Normal dates (1st Oct – to 25th Oct) choose Graham as the highest yielding variety on the Rec list and the most suitable variety for almost all situations

  • Suggested seed rate: 350 seeds/m2 or 500 kg bag to 2.7 ha after mid-October

  • If drilling later or in challenging seedbeds, a bigger biomass variety like SY INSITOR is beneficial, or choose a quicker autumn developing variety like CHAMPION

Please consult your agronomist or call Seedtech if you have a query.

Timing of T1 application on Graham Winter Wheat.

Graham Winter Wheat is at growth stage 39 with flag leaf emerged. Watch Tim O'Donovan check through the crop for Septoria.

In this video, we went back to a field of GRAHAM winter wheat to look at how its first fungicide spray worked and if the variety was performing as expected.

We also look at incident radiation in April 2020 how this influences stem sugar reserves which help fill the wheat grains.
